The one dropped on hiroshima was a gun type configuration and the one dropped on nagasaki was an implosion type configuration similar to the one used in the trinity test. Are you out of your mind?"-- again, whoever's answer it was to use the atom bomb earlier was better than later didn't deal with whether it was good to use it at all, rather, which case was the better option. Japan had been militarily defeated-the Japanese government had pulled back it's remaining forces to protect the main island from the expected massive invasion
