We are well aware that the Series 9 will be available in this capacity, and with this exact SSD, however, nobody can answer the question whether the Series 9 will function at full SATA 3 power. If there was a minor disappointment observed in the first round of ultrabook releases, it had to be that all were based on the Sandy Bridge platform and capable of supporting SATA 3, however, only one followed through with full SATA 3 power. Congrats has to go to Asus for releasing their Sandy Bridge Zenbook at its full potential.I even thought I lucked out after throwing a Runcore T50 SATA 3 120GB mSATA SSD into my Toshiba Z830 ultrabook and achieving SATA 3 performance during the test phase of that ultrabook, but was soon to be disappointed in trying to repeat that performance with this SATA 3 SSD

Reply TrackSmart - Monday, September 24, 2012 - link If you can get the 830 at a massive discount, why not go for it? A couple of thoughts:1) I would never put a new-to-market SSD in on of my machines. The vanilla 840 on the other hand will boast more spare area (likely to help manage endurance on the TLC NAND) and will launch at 120GB, 250GB and 500GB capacities as a result

Pricing aside, the Samsung 830 series makes an excellent SSD and it's also one of the best-looking on the market, something that's not a must-have but still a welcome bonus for an internal drive, in case you want to use it as a gift. For better performance it's recommended that you use the latest version of the OSes that support the TRIM command, such as Windows 7 and Mac OS 10.6 or later

There is also Samsungs own K4T2G314OE on-board cache below the controller. We find it interesting that the S3C29MAX01 controller in use is exactly the same controller used in the Samsung 470 Series SSD.The model number of the drive is MZMPA128HMFU and, as stated above, we will be seeing a 256GB version in the same form factor in the very near future. The drive creates new records in the AS SSD and CrystalDiskMark benchmarks and places ahead of fast competitors like the Intel SSD 520 and OCZ Vertex 4. Even on the desktop, without DMPI support, the idle power usage is very good, and in comparison to the 830, the new model has received some improvements in read and write speeds

The only leg Samsung had to stand on was reliability, which believe it or not can sometimes take second place to performance depending on the target market. I suspect it won't be too much longer before we start to see other SSD manufactures taking a closer look at Samsung 20nm flash for their SSD products built on other SSD controllers. This is the easiest and simplest solution for me (thanks to Carbon Copy Cloner as it copies everything including the operating system) and allows me to get back to work on my MBP with little to no down time and no hassles with reinstalling anything* Just in case people were wondering, this was my first time swapping out any hard drive, so I have little experience with computer components, yet it was super easy for me to do.I'm currently running my new SSD with no issues and enjoying the speed that comes with having a SSD vs the traditional hard drive
