If you have installed Management Studio Express onto your computer, you will need to uninstall it before upgrading if you want to use the full version of Managment Studio that comes with Standard. Once Standard is installed, you must mannually detach your databases from your SQL Express instance, move them to the Data directory of the Standard installation and then manually attach the database to Standard

if you do not have a download manager installed, and still want to download the file(s) you've chosen, please note: You may not be able to download multiple files at the same time. (You would have the opportunity to download individual files on the "Thank you for downloading" page after completing your download.) Files larger than 1 GB may take much longer to download and might not download correctly

I have a question: do I need to stop any SP processes while doing upgrade from sql 2005 express to sql 2008 r2 express? Or I just follow your steps from this blog and that`s it (no hidden steps between listed in this blog). If you, against my pleading, did a Basic Install of MOSS 2007, SharePoint Foundation 2010 or SharePoint Server 2010 you get an instance of SQL Express also

licensing RMS 2.0 sql 2005 express SQL 2008 R2 Reply You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available. Is what I was told incorrect? Is there a particulare flavor of the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition I need (Open license, etc.) Are you saying that each Express on the workstations connect to the Main SQL Server directly and that would constitute a connection (even if they all use the same login) and thus would require a CAL? Just trying to reconcile what is legally required based on the actual way RMS is supposed to be configured

If you currently have SQL Server 2000, or SQL Server 2005 failover clusters on the 32-bit subsystem (WOW64) upgrade of the failover cluster to SQL Server 2008 R2 is not supported. I just wanted to check before doing that, as an upgrade might be an easier option, especially with all the configurations done for the Named Pipes, etc
