I just wanted to check before doing that, as an upgrade might be an easier option, especially with all the configurations done for the Named Pipes, etc

Is there a particulare flavor of the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition I need (Open license, etc.) Are you saying that each Express on the workstations connect to the Main SQL Server directly and that would constitute a connection (even if they all use the same login) and thus would require a CAL? Just trying to reconcile what is legally required based on the actual way RMS is supposed to be configured
