I checked the voltage on the heater wires at the O2 sensor plug with the key on, and there was 12 volts, so the sensor seemed to be getting the correct power. While this would be tolerable if it were the only symptom, another problem is that the ECU defaults the fuel mix if any code is thrown, resulting in poor fuel economy even at normal operating temperature if the heater circuit malfunctions

All you can do is take a peek underneath the car (looking for a wire going near the catalytic converter) and look under (and behind) the front passenger seat for more wiring and a rubber grommet. However, to remove the carpet I had to remove the seat because the Capet was pinned down to the floor and there was no way to get to it without removing the seat
