nVidia or ATI HDMI CARD and why?

Any dicrete card will support dual digital out, DVI can be converted to HDMI, so a card with two DVI outs, or 1 HDMI and 1 DVI will fit the bill for you. Nvidia's HDMI audio solution sucks, it's no better than SPDIF (with some exceptions), but ATI's 4000 series had 8 channel LPCM integrated and the 5000 series adds HD-Audio bitstreaming to the 8 channel LPCM

Pretty simple which is why I still don't understand why display manufactures pretend we should to use integrated speakers over normal speakers with HDMI, as soon displays with DP rev1.2 begin to appear HDMI would be pointless... Not only does it do away with the internal interface required for HDMI and DVI (DisplayPort signaling I believe goes right to the panel itself whereas HDMI and DVI require additional hardware and a separate interface inside the display unit itself) but it also includes a scalable bi-directional data channel that can allow a monitor's USB port, microphone, webcam, etc, to all use a single cable

I think you're right...but if they can down-convert HD to SD for MRV as is planned, seems like they could use the same technology to off load content to a DVD

For example, if you unplug the turtle beach out of the component jack and change the channel and then change it back it should not happen that time because it is not trying to choose between two possible outputs. If it's not that, it might be a feature of your TV called CEC that you can probably disable: Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) is a feature designed to allow the user to command and control two or more CEC-enabled boxes, that are connected through HDMI, by using only one of their remote controls (for example by controlling a television set, set-top box, and DVD player using only the remote control of the TV)

it actually communicates through the hdmi cable and is very simplistic in that it only offfers limited control to other devices such as telling them to turn on. If it is a driver issue, I would uninstall any and all drivers for any card you have ever used in that slot, then find a driver wipe utility to make sure all remnants of the driver are removed, run a regitry cleaner program
